First of all, this post is in response to @Crying_In_Color ‘s post about why she chose her username. In it she explains herself and then asks the question ‘why did you choose your username’. Click on the tag and go post there, not here to answer that question.
So my username has its’ origins in high school as I went to summer camp for a week in between each year of my high school career. The camp was called Camp Otterbein and even though I went there starting in about 3rd grade, I never went to the Night Camp version of it until my freshman year of high school. At night camp we would stay awake all night and sleep all day. I seem to recall eating breakfast at 12:30 AM. haha. Oh I loved that.
Anyways, one of the main activities for the campers and counselors was to play a game of 2-5 AM capture the flag. So my freshman year it was really foggy with no moon and everyone who was running around looked like shadows. So I figured that when I went on the offfense to try and find and capture the other team’s flag I HAD to look like a shadow. And I was running.
So in 2000 when I chose my first email name(and AIM) it was Shadow81Dan. In 2005 when I signed up for this site it morphed in Shadowrunner. Unfortunately someone already had ‘Shadowrunner’ so I added the 81( which was the year I was born) and bingo….Shadowrunner81.
So there you go. The origins of my screenname here on Xanga(and on Youtube where it is Shadowrunner81Dan).

’81 is the BEST year to be born! ;D
Cool story on your screen name. Night camp sounds awesome. Perhaps you were surrounded by a bunch of vampires & THAT is why they were sleeping during the day? *hehe* Jk, I read too much fiction.
My screen name here doesn’t have a story. *lol* I just want to share my opinion.. aka, my two cents. But mytwocents was already taken so I had to add an extra s.
There you have it!
Oh you should read the book “Divergent.” They have a capture the flag @ night scene in there too. It’s a dystopian novel & I thought it was pretty good. Not a chick book either – my husband read it & liked it.
@MyTwoCentss - you meant ’80. I’ll forgive your mistake young’n. :p
@AgainstTheWind1 - *lol* What was that old man? I suppose next you’ll tell me that August isn’t the most awesome month of the year to be born?
@MyTwoCentss - Pfft. Of course I’m not going to tell you that.
Clearly, you already know.
Dan, there is a summer camp that goes at night only, and you never told me?! For shame.
@MyTwoCentss - How do you know WE weren’t the vampires?
@AgainstTheWind1 - Hey it’s not too late to be a counselor there. I never was but I have a friend who reads my blog who was. He could hook you up?
Woohoo I love it!
I like when there’s a story behind the name…unlike mine, lol! Thanks for sharing!
Interesting!
That was a good story behind a name!
@AgainstTheWind1 - Nope. What I know is that August is the best month of the year to be born.
Very neat!
Thanks for sharing!
@MyTwoCentss - @AgainstTheWind1 - You’re both wrong. 87 is the best year to be born and January is the best month. Hello! Just sayin!
All you 30 year olds, pfft..
@Megabyyte - I’m 31. Which makes me the oldest. Therefore, I’m also the wisest. You may sit under my lectures and learn, you young’ns. LEARN!!!
And get off my lawn! haha
@Megabyyte - Listen here ya young whippersnapper! The world was already over itself by 87! Heck, it was over itself in ’84 when my frustrating younger brother was born! *hehe* ’81 is the year the world will never forget!
