  • If you had the chance to redo high school, knowing what you know now, how would you redo it?

So if I had a chance to redo high schoo knowing what I know now. Wow. I would have kept the same close group of friends that I had back then. Except Brad. He sucked. . I might have asked out a couple of girls instead of being so self-conscious about the fact that I didn’t drive. I went to a private school so everybody was so spread out around the city that I had no clue how I would have been able to pick someone up and take them out. “Yeah let’s get on the COTA bus and go out!!” I doubt many girls would’ve gone for that.

Something else I wouldn’t change is my taste in music. Back in high school I was BIG into the 80′s music. I loved a whole bunch of songs. I still remember how everytime I went with Brad to Zapzone he would play Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet. That is a great album that I’ll have to buy sometime. Something else I might change is that I wouldn’t have given Dave, @comsciguy82, Star Tropics. I gave him that old Nintendo game so long ago and NEVER got it back. Grrrrr. But he commented a couple days ago and I said to just keep it. It became a running joke between us.

Then there is Diane from Art Class. I lent her my original copies of Star Wars(The ones that hadn’t been changed yet by George Lucas). I never got those back either. I kinda had a crush on her though so I never really called her on that. She was a Junior when I was a Freshman so there was that too.

Oh and I would’ve paid more attention in Algebra 2. Sorry Parch! He tried so hard to reach me and I just plain did not care about the subjects he was teaching. Poor guy.

I could go on with some other stuff, like how I was pretty much an outcast in high school and how that has helped to shape my view of the world all the way to today. I was, am, and always will be an outcast. I like it that way though.

    Thanks for reading!

  • Gotta love the friends who borrow stuff and never give it back , lol. My best friend bought me a stress ball to squeeze when I would get stressed. Well, she took it back after using it to throw around with some of the popular girls. It was her “ticket in” with the popular girls. lol  Never did get it back. Nice.

Algebra, and math in general, sucks.

Good post, dan! This is a good question.

  • Call me weird…but i would not change ONE damned thing about my life.
The bad…the good. It all made me who I am.
And at 51, I am aware enough the balances and subtleties…I have what I need to survive my life.
I had what I needed to be the parent my daughter needed.
So I would not change one thing…regrets are for suckers.

  • I’d track someone down for my original copies of Star Wars! ;)

  • Seriously, Star Tropics is probably in my Mom’s basement still with the old Nintendo. Some weekend in the future when my life isn’t crazy busy we’ll have to go out and have a drink and I’ll return it :D Also, I’m hoping you didn’t just discover Aqua Harp… that video is crazy, I remember seeing it a few years back when I was in college.

As far as life changes, I’d change a few decisions I made senior year… but other than that, despite choices I made, and people I hung out with, and other stuff that happened, those life events made me who I am today, and I don’t think I’m willing to risk the change to who I might have been otherwise.

  • omg i hated Algebra… so i would have paid more attention, too… and then maybe i would have gotten better grades in it! ;)

  • “Oh and I would’ve paid more attention in Algebra 2.”

Would you come be a motivational speaker to my students? They need to hear that!

  • @Megabyyte - I think you should get a stress ball for Mother’s Day.

@galadrial - Regrets are for suckers. Hypotheticals are for bloggers!

@atypicalindividual - Maybe I should. Though they were just taped off of TV as VHS tapes….

  • @comsciguy82 - Haha…like I said on the Lord Acton post. You can keep Star Tropics. I only brought it up because of the high school themed post.

@Peridot21 - Yeah I BARELY passed. Math just wasn’t my thing. I sat in the back and wrote stuff in a little notebook I always kept with me. None of it was about Math. haha

@AmyDoo - I would tell them, “Don’t end up like me. Listen to your Algebra teacher! She knows what’s good and right for you! Fractions are your friends!”

  • @Shadowrunner81 - Not so bad then, I suppose!

  • I think I would do it all the same.

  • I saw Diane at Justin’s cigar shop in Westerville a couple of months ago.

Look back, I don’t know. I guess I would change things but I wouldn’t change where I’m at in life currently. High school shaped today so the good and the bad led me to today.

Okay, one thing. I would’ve pushed them more to let me be a part-time student and do some college courses my last year. I was only going Senior year for English and Government. Everything else was really just a waste of my time.

  • I would’ve begged my mom to let me quit sooner to be home-schooled. School was horrible.

  • Unfortunately, I would’ve chosen to be a bigger band geek in high school and gotten into performing groups far sooner because I didn’t realize how talented I was.

  • @BoulderChristina -  Glad to hear that.

@biggirlsdontcriyiyiyi - I wasn’t home schooled so I don’t know what the pros and cons would have been for it. But it seems like it worked for you and for that, I’m glad. Thanks for stopping by!

@Thatslifekid - What instrument(s) do you play? Welcome to the site.

  • @Shadowrunner81 -  Hello. I play piano, brass, and a little bit of folk instruments

  • I think everyone would like to change a thing or two about how they were in high school.

As far as the picking up chicks thing, man, you were going for the wrong girls then! I bussed around with everyone, I didn`t grow up with the luxury of a car anyway so maybe that`s what made me so open minded.

  • @specialxplaces - Haha, I walked back and forth to school once I got to high school. Before that I bussed around like everyone else. Like I said above, people were spread out all over columbus so I rarely saw people outside of school. It was a lonely time but it prepared me for when I went to college and lived alone. You do seem like an open-minded individual. Hope your future hubster appreciates that.

  • I would have taken college classes in high school so I could have knocked out a few years of college while in high school.

I also probably would have taken a few more chances in life.

  • I’d be braver when trying out for the school play. I’d also enroll in city or state college instate rather than out of state.

  • Your site does not let me recommend…….I suppose I should’ve taken a computer course in high school. Oh, wait! These weren’t invented yet!

  • @Kellsbella - Yeah my site has some bugs. It won’t send out subscription emails right now. It won’t let me recommend people’s comments and some people can’t recommend my posts. It’s annoying but hey, it’s home!
